!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . The photos appear to be legit, but at least 4 months old. Map places the car in Mint Hill, NC. Pictures appear to have been taken in the parking lot of the Dollar General in Mint Hill:

The price and “just the bare minimum,” info in the ad makes me really wary. Also, the paint on the passenger rear quarter makes me think the car’s been crashed in the past - note it’s considerably duller than the rest - especially for a car that appears to have been well-cleaned for sale.

If it’s been hit lightly in the rear passenger quarter and fixed properly (including suspension mounting, etc) then nice price.

A t-top, cloth-interior 97 Firebird with an automatic and the 2.73 gears (no 1 on gear selector) is probably the least desirable V8 3rd-gen F-body, and could be easily spanked in a drag race by a v6 Camry. But the exterior color is nice and my wife would probably hate it. I could give my sister the Cherokee that she gave us when she was so sick of putting money into it.

Question: what’s the appeal of an auto 90s F-body or Mustang? I’ve driven both a manual LT1 Camaro and an auto 2nd gen Camaro and both were fun, the LT1 being reasonably quick(had some bolt ons) and engaging while the 2nd gen was oozing in old school character. I feel like the auto would take away most of the engagement and a lot of the immediate power, leaving you with a car that isn’t very fast, engaging, practical or efficient.

Kind of tough to see. Pics on the dealer site list the 155 speedo. Might be a 3.23 car. If you go take a pic of the RPO sticker.

Not sure if you mean it’s a big or little deal.

FWIW 97 is basically the best of the 4.1s. Vented opti, OBD-II, digital dash.

Oh, and if you go see it and the opti top is wet with antifreeze or caked with oil you may be able to negotiate even further. That’s a water pump, water pump seal, and opti job. Figure $750 or more.

A friend about 18 years ago had one with some mild work and 4.10 gears. It was a beast. I might be able to talk my wife into it... and giving the Cherokee back to my sister...

Just check the opti area- seriously. If it’s a mess you are living on borrowed time. If it goes the car won’t run.

Given these are at the bottom of their depreciation curve and still common, I would wait for the perfect one.

I also support any firebird purchase. This doesn’t have the ugly ws6 hood either which is a plus.
